Usk has won its class in ‘Wales in Bloom’ again in 2010, its 29th success in the competition.  The town was awarded a Silver Gilt award this year, recording 165 points out of a possible maximum of 200, 44 ahead of its nearest rival.  The judge, Jennie Judd, in her report commented on “the excellent community participation in the Usk entry and the passion and desire seen to improve the local environment”.   She also praised floral displays, residential gardens and environmental work viewed on her tour of the town and the outstanding work done at the school and elsewhere in Usk to encourage young people to be involved in ‘in Bloom’ and environmental activities.

John Evans, Chairman of ‘Usk in Bloom’, said that this year’s win was very much a team effort and thanked volunteers, gardeners and sponsors who had all contributed to the town’s success.
